The Faroe Islands world’s best islands to visit
This is according to a new survey conducted by National Geographic Traveler. They descripe the Faroes as "Authentic, unspoiled, and likely to remain so".
The survey rates the qualities that make a destination unique, i.e. "integrity of place." A panel of 522 well-travelled experts were asked to rank 111 different islands by comparing e.g. environmental and ecological quality, social and cultural integrity as well as outlook for the future
One expert commented that the Faroe Islands have a superb glaciated landscape with improbably steep slopes, that it is a local society unified and resolutely Faroese.
